CORONAVIRUS in SPAIN – latest Health Ministry figures

The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Thursday 11 November for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 5,042,803. This is an overall increase of 4,286 against the figure released on Wednesday, of which 2,487 have been registered in the past 24 hours.

Wednesday had seen an overall increase of 6,461 over Monday, of which 2,095 were registered in 24 hours. The health ministry did not release any data on Tuesday.

The overall incidence rate across Spain has risen five points to 67.07 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days – the eighth consecutive rise. On Wednesday it was 62.67 and Monday 58.57. The region with the lowest incidence rate is Galicia at 34. It is at its highest in Navarra at 146. It is also over 100 in the Basque Country and Aragón. The age group with the highest incidence rate is those aged under 11, at 86. The incidence rates per age group are as follows:

  • Aged 11 and under – 86.63 (previously 86.34)
  • 12-19 years – 35.15 (36.34)
  • 20-29 years – 51.75 (52.22)
  • 30-39 years – 67.22 (66.85)
  • 40-49 years – 73.13 (72.20)
  • 50-59 years – 54.04 (53.90)
  • 60-69 years – 59.81 (60.97)
  • 70-79 years – 58.74 (58.41)
  • Aged 80 and over – 51.52 (53.10)

There have now been 31,825 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 5,042,803. The figure for the past 7 days is 18,297

There are currently 1,933 people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Spain (previously 1,903), representing a 1.56% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (1.54%). 395 are in intensive care (403), representing 4.33% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across Spain (4.42%).

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Thursday 11 Nov is now 87,647 – an increase of 30 since Wednesday.

Increase in infections per region & current incidence rate

Of the 2,487 new infections to have only been registered in the past 24 hours (and current incidence rate) on Thursday 11 Nov, the numbers per region are as follows:

  • 418 in Catalonia (current incidence rate: 86)
  • 412 in Madrid (63)
  • 350 in the Basque Country (121)
  • 185 in the Valencia Region (75)
  • 183 in Castilla y León (66)
  • 171 in Aragón (111)
  • 158 in the Canary Islands (70)
  • 139 in Andalusia (39)
  • 113 in Navarra (146)
  • 77 in the Balearic Islands (97)
  • 62 in Murcia (56)
  • 61 in Galicia (34)
  • 44 in Asturias (42)
  • 38 in La Rioja (73)
  • 37 in Extremadura (36)
  • 33 in Cantabria (46)
  • 3 in Castilla La Mancha (43)
  • in Ceuta (2)
  • in Melilla (28)
