The ‘Vila del Llibre’ literary festival in Sitges kickstarts a full cultural weekend

Books, poetry recitals and literary discussions will fill the streets of Sitges this weekend with the arrival of the second edition of the Sitges Vila del Llibre from 1-3 April. The Passeig Marítim will become the epicentre of a cultural event that, ahead of Sant Jordi (23 April), offers literature with entertainment for all audiences.

The festival will be held in different locations across the town, such as the ME Sitges Terramar hotel, the Centre for Marine Studies (CEM) and the Sitges Museums, which will all host various activities during the three days. In addition, the cultural events will also bring children closer with family workshops and storytelling in the Terramar Gardens and the Sea Studies Centre itself.

The local councillor for tourism, Luismi García, emphasised the public-private partnership as ‘an opportunity to influence cultural, sustainable and de-seasonalised tourism, which is also committed to the Terramar area as a space to be discovered’.

Poetry will play a prominent role in this second edition, with recitals by renowned authors such as Cèlia Sànchez-Mústich and Joan Carles González Pujalte, among others. The Sitges Malvasia Interpretation Centre is also included in the programming schedule with a wine tasting, and the Sitges Museums are offering new activities with modernist literature as their theme.

At the same time, some 40 independent publishers will display their books along the market located on the Paseo Marítimo. Sitges authors with new books published will have their own space and there will also be numerous activities organised by local entities.
