The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Friday 26 November for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 5,131,012. This is an overall increase of 9,912 against the figure released on Thursday, of which 5,867 have been registered in the past 24 hours.

Thursday had seen an overall increase of 9,258 over Wednesday, of which 5,541 were registered in 24 hours

The overall incidence rate across Spain has risen 11 points to 171.68 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Thursday it was 160.15 and Wednesday 148.84. The region with the lowest incidence rate is Extremadura at 72. It is at its highest in Navarra at 499. See below for the incidence rate for each region.

The age group with the highest incidence rate is those aged under 11, at 274.The incidence rates per age group are as follows:

  • Aged 11 and under – 274.06 (previously 252.60)
  • 12-19 years – 89.90 (82.93)
  • 20-29 years – 130.65 (122.35)
  • 30-39 years – 174.37 (163.89)
  • 40-49 years – 204.01 (188.98)
  • 50-59 years – 154.92 (144.85)
  • 60-69 years – 173.06 (161.10)
  • 70-79 years – 145.07 (138.43)
  • Aged 80 and over – 103.10 (98.45)

There have now been 81,463 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 5,131,012. The figure for the past 7 days is 46,492

There are currently 3,385 people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Spain (previously 3,273), representing a 2.73% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (2.63%). 597 are in intensive care (571), representing 6.50% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across Spain (6.23%).

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Friday 26 Nov is now 87,955 – an increase of 24 since Thursday.

Increase in infections per region & current incidence rate

Of the 5,867 new infections to have only been registered in the past 24 hours (and current incidence rate) on Friday 26 Nov, the numbers per region are as follows:

  • 1,014 in the Basque Country (current incidence rate: 387)
  • 983 in Catalonia (222)
  • 687 in Madrid (126)
  • 539 in Castilla y León (204)
  • 501 in Aragón (292)
  • 364 in Navarra (499)
  • 333 in the Canary Islands (157)
  • 308 in Galicia (148)
  • 235 in the Valencia Region (176)
  • 203 in Asturias (124)
  • 194 in Murcia (184)
  • 136 in Andalusia (89)
  • 93 in the Balearic Islands (217)
  • 90 in Cantabria (129)
  • 73 in Extremadura (72)
  • 73 in La Rioja (184)
  • 15 in Castilla La Mancha (100)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (with data collated up to Thursday 25 November) show that Spain has administered 76,026,523 jabs of the Covid vaccine. 37,582,174 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 79.2% of the total population.
