On Monday, the first safe, covered and free parking for bicycles and scooters in Sitges was put into operation.
It is located in Plaça d’Eduard Maristany near the railway station and aims to facilitate parking for users and promote sustainable transport among people who travel by train every day. The cycle parking unit, which has space for 6 bikes, also has a system of solar panels, which manage its opening and closing.
The service is controlled from the app Benito, where it is necessary to register in order to use it. From the same application you can see the availability of parking spaces and where there is access to open the parking unit.
The new bicycle parking has cost around €13,000 – at no cost to the local council, as it has been carried out thanks to a grant from the Local Resilience Program 3.0 of the Barcelona Provincial Council.
