Sitges Half Marathon celebrates its 40th edition

3,000 runners will start the half-marathon season with the 40th edition of the Sitges Half Marathon (21k) and the 12th edition of the Quarter Marathon (10.5k) this Sunday 14 January in Sitges.

There are no changes in the route compared to last year, when it began to pass through the new district of La Plana, despite the low attendance of the public there and the certain unevenness of the streets in the area.

The Quarter and the Half Marathons – that also maintain their commitment to the promenade, the Vinyet and Terramar neighbourhoods, and the centre of the town as is the tradition – will start on Sunday at 9 and 10am respectively from Passeig de la Ribera.

The lap consists of just over 10 kilometres and the participants in the half marathon will go round twice.

The almost 3,000 athletes registered far exceeds the number of last year’s participants. The runs also maintain their charitable character and will raise funds for the NGO Ocularis, which is dedicated to ophthalmological care and training in sub-Saharan Africa.

On Saturday, there will be the fifth edition of the children’s races, with departure and arrival in front of the Club de Mar. The tests will take place from youngest to oldest, according to the age categories.
