39.47% of all Sitges residents have already received a booster dose of the Covid vaccine, which has been administered since October. Almost half of those have received it during 2022, coinciding with the sixth wave.
The growth of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus over the last month and a half has been the driving force behind receiving the booster dose, and which has been administered at a significantly faster rate than the very first dose during last spring. In Sitges, 11,303 people have already received it and in Sant Pere de Ribes, the figure is 11,218.
39.47% of all Sitges residents (of all ages) is a similar figure to the 40.21% of the Catalan population overall who have now received the booster jab. In Sitges, 76.04% of the population had been fully vaccinated prior to the third dose commencing, while in Catalonia as a whole it was 80.68%. The data includes the population as a whole, as well as infants and children under the age of five who are not yet vaccinated.
The reason for the difference is that a number of foreign residents living in Sitges have been vaccinated in their countries of origin, with the data not yet registered with the Catalan health authorities.
