CORONAVIRUS in SPAIN – latest Health Ministry figures
The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Friday 19 November for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 5,080,663. This is an overall increase of 6,636 against the figure released on Thursday, of which 4,114 have been registered in the past 24 hours.
Thursday had seen an overall increase of 6,315 over Wednesday, of which 3,932 were registered in 24 hours.
The overall incidence rate across Spain has risen seven points to 111.95 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Thursday it was 104.29 and Wednesday 96.12. The region with the lowest incidence rate is Asturias at 58. It is at its highest in Navarra at 311. See below for the incidence rate for each region.
The age group with the highest incidence rate is those aged under 11, at 166.The incidence rates per age group are as follows:
- Aged 11 and under – 166.18 (previously 153.95)
- 12-19 years – 59.94 (56.42)
- 20-29 years – 90.36 (84.39)
- 30-39 years – 117.15 (109.14)
- 40-49 years – 131.82 (123.09)
- 50-59 years – 101.23 (93.44)
- 60-69 years – 107.98 (100.08)
- 70-79 years – 101.49 (95.15)
- Aged 80 and over – 77.56 (74.98)
There have now been 53,119 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 5,080,663. The figure for the past 7 days is 31,553.
There are currently 2,398 people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Spain (previously 2,308), representing a 1.93% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (1.86%). 458 are in intensive care (457), representing 5.02% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across Spain (5.0%).
The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Friday 19 Nov is now 87,810 – an increase of 6 since Thursday.

Of the 4,114 new infections to have only been registered in the past 24 hours (and current incidence rate) on Friday 19 Nov, the numbers per region are as follows:
- 698 in Catalonia (current incidence rate: 152)
- 606 in the Basque Country (236)
- 590 in Madrid (92)
- 394 in Castilla y León (117)
- 283 in Navarra (311)
- 281 in Aragón (179)
- 252 in the Canary Islands (115)
- 199 in Murcia (109)
- 180 in the Valencia Region (113)
- 149 in Galicia (73)
- 105 in Andalusia (60)
- 94 in the Balearic Islands (152)
- 77 in Asturias (58)
- 70 in Cantabria (83)
- 64 in La Rioja (139)
- 53 in Extremadura (58)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain
Latest figures (with data collated up to Thursday 18 November) show that Spain has administered 74,683,916 jabs of the Covid vaccine. 37,519,860 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 79.1% of the total population.
