CORONAVIRUS in SPAIN – latest Health Ministry figures

The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Tuesday 2 November for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 5,016,968. This is an overall increase of 5,820 against the figure released on Friday, of which 585 have been registered in the past 24 hours.

Friday had seen an overall increase of 2,261 over Thursday, of which 1,330 were registered in 24 hours. Monday 1 November was a national holiday in Spain and the health ministry did not release data.

The overall incidence rate across Spain has fallen slightly by decimal points to 49.03 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Friday it was 49.86 and Thursday 49.62. The region with the lowest incidence rate is Galicia at 19. It is at its highest in the Balearic Islands at 87. See below for the incidence rate for each region.

There have now been 23,264 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 5,016,968. The figure for the past 7 days is 10,929

There are currently 1,740 people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Spain (previously 1,640), representing a 1.42% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (1.33%). 405 are in intensive care (411), representing 4.44% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across Spain (4.48%).

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Tuesday 2 Nov is now 87,423 – an increase of 55 since Friday.

Increase in infections per region & current incidence rate

Of the 585 new infections to have only been registered in the past 24 hours (and current incidence rate) on Tuesday 2 Nov, the numbers per region are as follows:

  • 108 in the Basque Country (current incidence rate: 82)
  • 101 in Catalonia (55)
  • 74 in Madrid (51)
  • 50 in the Canary Islands (52)
  • 41 in Navarra (83)
  • 35 in the Balearic Islands (87)
  • 34 in Castilla y León (52)
  • 31 in Asturias (39)
  • 26 in Aragón (68)
  • 25 in Cantabria (42)
  • 16 in Extremadura (25)
  • 13 in Andalusia (33)
  • 13 in La Rioja (35)
  • 10 in Murcia (47)
  • 5 in Galicia (19)
  • 1 in Castilla La Mancha (39)
  • 1 in the Valencia Region (55)
  • in Ceuta (8)
  • in Melilla (29)
