Coronavirus in Spain (12 Nov) – four regions with incidence rate over 100

CORONAVIRUS in SPAIN – latest Health Ministry figures

The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Friday 12 November for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 5,047,156. This is an overall increase of 4,353 against the figure released on Thursday, of which 2,731 have been registered in the past 24 hours.

Thursday had seen an overall increase of 4,286 over Wednesday, of which 2,487 were registered in 24 hours

The overall incidence rate across Spain has another four points to 71.50 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days – the ninth consecutive rise. On Thursday it was 67.07 and Wednesday 62.67. The region with the lowest incidence rate is Galicia at 36. It is at its highest in Navarra at 158. It is also over 100 in the Basque Country, Aragón and the Baleares. The age group with the highest incidence rate is those aged under 11, at 98. The incidence rates per age group are as follows:

  • Aged 11 and under – 98.88 (previously 86.63)
  • 12-19 years – 40.45 (35.15)
  • 20-29 years – 59.54 (51.75)
  • 30-39 years – 76.99 (67.22)
  • 40-49 years – 83.59 (73.13)
  • 50-59 years – 61.73 (54.04)
  • 60-69 years – 67.79 (59.81)
  • 70-79 years – 66.69 (58.74)
  • Aged 80 and over – 58.22 (51.52)

There have now been 33,925 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 5,047,156. The figure for the past 7 days is 19,561

There are currently 1,946 people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Spain (previously 1,933), representing a 1.57% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (1.56%). 394 are in intensive care (395), representing 4.31% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across Spain (4.33%).

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Friday 12 Nov is now 87,673 – an increase of 26 since Thursday.

Increase in infections per region & current incidence rate

Of the 2,731 new infections to have only been registered in the past 24 hours (and current incidence rate) on Friday 12 Nov, the numbers per region are as follows:

  • 513 in Madrid (current incidence rate: 68)
  • 460 in Catalonia (92)
  • 398 in the Basque Country (142)
  • 212 in the Canary Islands (76)
  • 202 in Castilla y León (70)
  • 188 in Aragón (122)
  • 132 in the Valencia Region (77)
  • 126 in Navarra (158)
  • 93 in Andalusia (41)
  • 91 in the Balearic Islands (103)
  • 74 in Galicia (36)
  • 71 in Murcia (58)
  • 55 in Extremadura (40)
  • 39 in Asturias (42)
  • 32 in Cantabria (50)
  • 30 in La Rioja (88)
  • 5 in Castilla La Mancha (46)
  • in Ceuta (3)
  • in Melilla (35)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (with data collated up to Thursday 11 November) show that Spain has administered 73,623,626 jabs of the Covid vaccine. 37,448,743 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 78.9% of the total population.
