Almodóvar’s ‘Pain and Glory’ to represent Spain at Oscars

Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar’s latest film, Pain and Glory (Dolor y Gloria)will represent Spain at the Oscars for Best Foreign Film.

Members of Spain’s Academy of Cinema chose the film over the other two films on the shortlist, Mientras dure la guerra from director Alejandro Amenábar and Simón y el paraíso de las tortugas from Salvador Simó.

Almodóvar has previously won two Academy Awards – for Best Foreign Language Film for All About My Mother (1999), and Best Original Screenplay for Talk to Her (2002).

The 92nd Academy Awards will take place on Sunday 9 February 2020
