Several units of the Medical Emergency Service (SEM) and the local police were deployed at noon on Sunday in Sitges to attend to someone who had suffered a heart attack.
The 47-year-old man, who was next to the El Garrofer campsite, needed urgent medical attention.
Two ambulances rushed to the campsite a few minutes after being called and resuscitated the man. But his condition required a quick transfer to the Bellvitge Hospital, which was carried out via a medical helicopter.
The helicopter landed on the Sitges to Vilanova road, where the local police stopped traffic in both directions so that it could operate easily.
