Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane tests positive for Covid-19

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has tested positive for Covid-19, the club has announced.

The positive test comes a day before Real Madrid travel to Alaves in La Liga, hoping to recover form after an embarrassing midweek exit from the Copa del Rey to third-tier club Alcoyano.

‘Real Madrid CF report that our coach Zinedine Zidane has tested positive for Covid-19,’ the club said in a statement.

Zidane has already had to self-isolate this month after coming into contact with a person infected with Coronavirus. However, he tested negative at the time and was able to oversee the team.

After successive defeats in the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey, Zidane is currently under pressure, with the club seeking to reactivate their La Liga title challenge away to Alaves.
