‘Grandes del Gospel Festival’ gets going in Madrid

On 2 December, the 24th edition of the Grandes del Gospel Festival opens in Madrid’s Teatro Fernán Gómez for an event full of music and emotion that’s aimed at all ages.

Four different groups from the USA take to to the stage this year for 11 concerts.

The 18-member Chicago Mass Choir, which last year won a Stellar award for the best traditional gospel group, presents a show entitled ‘Connecting Souls’ (5-7 December).

Joshua Nelson and the New York Gospel Project bring ‘The Gospel According to Joshua’ to audiences (8, 9, 15 December).

The South Carolina Gospel Chorale perform ‘Soul Fire’ (14, 16 December). And Charleston Gospel Voices present ‘Rhythm and Gospel’ and are preceded by the local choir, All 4 Gospel (11-13 December).

As well as these concerts, there are also two special performances for children called ‘Gospel for Kids‘ (9, 16 December), plus an outdoor event in Plaza de Colón that brings together choirs and the public for a Christmas gospel celebration (2 December), and a masterclass from the Chicago Mass Choir (6 December).
