A young meteorologist from Sitges, Gori Masip, along with two of his friends, recently took 200 litres of water to the Parc del Garraf – at the height of the extreme temperatures and drought. The water was used to fill a pond that has been used by the local wildlife, and which has also been shared on social media.
‘We poured water into a stone basin with no cracks, so it doesn’t seep through and only disappears through evaporation, which takes a few days,’ explained Masip.
He received some negative comments online, with people saying that the effort wouldn’t be effective because the water would vanish quickly. ‘Now, there are even people who have told me that they were among those who thought we were wasting water, but they’ve seen that the animals are benefiting from it,’ he said.
