Markets galore this weekend in Madrid

As the Christmas season gets into full swing, the coming days see a variety of markets take place around Madrid, providing an ideal opportunity to pick up gifts for friends and family.

Mercado de Motores: around 100 stalls featuring vintage and original items that range from fashion to food, jewellery and furniture. Held in the city’s Railway Museum (Paseo de las Delicias, 61) once a month, this Christmas edition also has live music performances, storytelling, beer tasting, a karaoke contest and food trucks. 8-9 December; Sat 11am-10pm, Sun 11am-9pm; free entry. mercadomotores.es

Mercado de Diseño Xmas Vibes: another regular on the Madrid scene, this month the Mercado de Diseño gets into the festive mood with its Xmas Vibes event at the Galeria de Cristal in the Palacio de Cibeles (Montalbán, 1). Over 100 designers show off creations such as jewellery, items for the home and clothing, while a line-up of local and international musicians perform throughout the weekend. 8-9 December; Sat 11am-10pm, Sun 11am-9pm; advance tickets online from €2.

The monthly Mercado de Motores is Madrid’s biggest vintage market

Molly Market: this market celebrates independent creatives and this month’s Christmas special sees it reach its 15th edition. The range of products on sale on over 90 stands includes illustrations, accessories and decorative items, all of them handmade and unique, while organisers have also scheduled workshops, concerts and activities for kids. Almoneda Navidad 2018: Almoneda is a popular antiques market with a large spectrum of goods of all shapes, sizes and prices. Furniture, homewares, works of art, books and numerous quirky items from the past (everything has to be at least 50 years old to qualify) are among the featured items at this event held at IFEMA (Avda. 31st Madrid Arts and Crafts Fair: Running throughout December on Paseo de Recoletes, the Feria Mercado de Artesania has become a leading showcase for artisans from around the Madrid region.
