‘Architecture Effects’ exhibition at Bilbao Guggenheim

The Guggenheim Bilbao opens a new four-month exhibition on 5 December entitled Architecture Effects, which has been created in conjunction with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.

The show takes an innovative look at the correspondences and connections between architecture and art from when the use of digital technology was coming into its own.

Its starting-point is the Guggenheim Bilbao building itself, which was inaugurated in 1997 and is one of the first examples of architecture that made extensive use of computer technology.

The exhibition then goes on to look at the way architecture developed in the following years as the digital era expanded, and draws comparisons with the current situation where culture is enmeshed in social media, artificial intelligence and virtual reality.

‘Architecture Effects’ features works by a range of contemporary artists that are key indicators of the fusion between communication, the economy, art, images and architecture, and it also explores the work of some of the most innovative designers and architects of our time.

When: 5 December – 28 April 2019
