CORONAVIRUS in SPAIN – latest Health Ministry figures

The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Monday 15 November for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 5,056,954. This is an overall increase of 9,798 against the figure released on Friday, of which 1,288 have been registered in the past 24 hours.

Friday had seen an overall increase of 4,353 over Thursday, of which 2,731 were registered in 24 hours

The overall incidence rate across Spain has risen 11 points to 82.02 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days – the highest since 20 September. On Friday it was 71.50 and Thursday 67.07. The region with the lowest incidence rate is Andalusia at 43. It is at its highest in Navarra at 203. It is also over 100 in the Basque Country, Aragón, the Baleares, La Rioja and Catalonia. The age group with the highest incidence rate is those aged under 11, at 119. The incidence rates per age group are as follows:

  • Aged 11 and under – 119.10 (previously 98.88)
  • 12-19 years – 45.49 (40.45)
  • 20-29 years – 67.63 (59.54)
  • 30-39 years – 86.62 (76.99)
  • 40-49 years – 95.80 (83.59)
  • 50-59 years – 71.70 (61.73)
  • 60-69 years – 77.87 (67.79)
  • 70-79 years – 76.74 (66.69)
  • Aged 80 and over – 64.29 (58.22)

There have now been 38,918 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 5,056,954. The figure for the past 7 days is 23,093

There are currently 2,180 people hospitalised for Covid-19 in Spain (previously 1,946), representing a 1.77% occupation of hospital beds across Spain (1.57%). 427 are in intensive care (394), representing 4.68% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid patients across Spain (4.31%).

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Monday 15 Nov is now 87,716 – an increase of 43 since Friday.

Increase in infections per region & current incidence rate

Of the 1,288 new infections to have only been registered in the past 24 hours (and current incidence rate) on Monday 15 Nov, the numbers per region are as follows:

  • 290 in the Basque Country (current incidence rate: 174)
  • 237 in Catalonia (108)
  • 130 in the Canary Islands (87)
  • 127 in Navarra (203)
  • 91 in Madrid (72)
  • 89 in Castilla y León (79)
  • 66 in the Balearic Islands (115)
  • 57 in Aragón (131)
  • 45 in Asturias (46)
  • 33 in Cantabria (65)
  • 25 in Murcia (71)
  • 24 in Andalusia (43)
  • 20 in Galicia (47)
  • 20 in the Valencia Region (88)
  • 12 in Extremadura (46)
  • 7 in La Rioja (106)
  • 0 in Castilla La Mancha (54)
  • 11 in Ceuta (16)
  • in Melilla (52)

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (with data collated up to Thursday 11 November) show that Spain has administered 73,623,626 jabs of the Covid vaccine. 37,448,743 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 78.9% of the total population.
