Posthumous exhibition of Sitges artist Salvador Dalmau i Gil is on at Santiago Rusiñol Library

The Santiago Rusiñol Library is the venue for a new photographic exhibition in Sitges – ‘Between mountains and vineyards by the sea, the diary of a world to discover through your camera’. The exhibition has been prepared by Ruth, Raquel and Regina Dalmau i Escoda to commemorate the extensive photographic legacy of their father, Salvador Dalmau i Gil, who passed away just three months ago.

As his daughters explain: ‘From 12 March 2013 until 31 July 2019, our father posted daily photos of his travels and routes on Facebook until his health prevented him from continuing to capture images. Just like a diary, he shared and commented on his favorite photos, and friends and family eagerly awaited them each morning to see the wonders he would show us. We would offer our comments on his snapshots.’

The exhibition includes the words he wrote when posting the photos, many of them in Spanish. His daughters said that they ‘did not want to translate his words because, like many others of his generation, he never had the opportunity to study in his language’. The exhibition is like a guided tour where he narrates the places, photographic techniques and some personal dedications, among other observations.

The Santiago Rusiñol Library is at the Plaça de l’Ajuntament, 13.
