Easyjet cabin crews in Spain to go on strike for three days, 25-27 June

Easyjet cabin crews based in Spain will go on strike for three days beginning on 25 June to demand higher wages, the USO union said on Tuesday, just as the holiday season gets underway.

The airline intends to operate normally during those days, a spokesperson said, adding the company would do everything possible to minimise the impact.

In its statement, the union said 657 flight attendants who are based in Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca could be involved in the action, a stoppage that will affect the operations of 21 aircraft.

EasyJet cabin crews earn much less in Spain than in other countries, according to the union.

The strike’s goal is to bring the working conditions and salaries of the cabin crews in Spain ‘into line with those of other cabin crews at other European bases’, the union said.

EasyJet’s spokesperson said the company employs crews in eight different countries ‘on local terms and conditions’.

Regulations in Spain force airline workers to provide minimum services during labour action, limiting any disruption.
