Hop dance festival at Mercat de les Flors

Barcelona’s Mercat de les Flors, the city’s leading dance venue, hosts a new edition of the ‘Hop’ Festival from 28 November to 2 December, giving audiences the chance to see the development of new performances up close.

Over two days (1-2 Dec), the Mercat hosts local and international dancers who perform new choreographies that are still in the process of creation, giving the public the opportunity to attend rehearsal sessions, get to know the artists personally, and take part in discussions and analysis about the current state of play in the dance sector.

The first three days of the festival include a workshop with award-winning choreographer Lanre Malalou, who brings politics and society together on stage in this three-hour course.

On Friday evening an ‘interdisciplinary dance jam’ takes place, which incorporates learning, improvisation and dialogue and is open to artists from any background.
