Vueling cancels 112 flights due to Barcelona airport strike

Vueling has cancelled 112 flights this weekend over the strike by Iberia ground-handling staff at Barcelona-El Prat airport.

Vueling is advising passengers that they could potentially be affected and is offering them an alternative flight.

This weekend, 46 flights will be affected on Saturday, and 66 on Sunday. In most cases, they are being moved to another flight the same day or the day after.

Representatives of Vueling have said that they want to keep the impact of the strike ‘to a minimum’ and have sent a ‘message of calm’.

Spain’s Ministry of Public Works has declared that there will be minimum services of 53% of journeys that would require an alternative route of longer than five hours, and 32% for flights with alternative routes shorter than five hours.

The Ministry has guaranteed that 100% of flights to islands will go ahead, and similarly 100% of flights dedicated to emergency tasks such as ambulances, fires, transport of organs for transplants, civil protection or rescue operations.
