Barça players will be wearing jersey with Rolling Stones logo for El Clásico

FC Barcelona have announced that the jersey their team will wear for ‘El Clásico’ (against Real Madrid) on 28 October will bear the iconic tongue and lips logo of the Rolling Stones, replacing the Spotify logo – and as part of the club’s sponsorship deal with the music streaming giant.

The deal coincides with the release and promotion of the Rolling Stones’ latest album, Hackney Diamonds, the band’s first album of original material in 18 years and which has been highly praised by music critics.

In addition to the jersey for the Barça v Real Madrid game on 28 October at the Estadi Lluis Companys, the Stones’ tongue and lips logo will also feature on the front of the women’s jersey for the Liga F game against Sevilla on 5 November at Estadi Johan Cruyff.

A statement issued by the Rolling Stones said: ‘We’re huge football fans and honoured that Spotify have brought our Tongue & Lips logo to grace the FC Barcelona shirt to celebrate the release of the Stones’ new ‘Hackney Diamonds’ album. We’ll be cheering on the players on the pitch as well as fans around the world who will be tuning in to watch this iconic match.’

The La Liga champions signed a major shirt sponsorship agreement with Spotify last year. Barça have previously worn shirts featuring the logo of Canadian rapper Drake and the cover artwork of Motomami, the third studio album released by Spanish singer Rosalía.

The deal with Spotify, which included the naming rights for the Camp Nou stadium, could be worth up to €435 million over several seasons, according to media reports.
