Guitar festival opens in Barcelona

Barcelona’s leading festival dedicated to guitar music, Guitar BCN, starts on 31 January with a packed schedule that runs into June.

Marking its 30th anniversary this year, Guitar BCN is an eclectic event that features numerous acts from across the musical spectrum.

To celebrate this special occasion, organisers TheProject have created a 30-concert programme that includes a focus on lyrics and songwriting.

The inaugural event sees South American rock legend Fito Páez return to the Catalan capital following an absence of nine years (31 January, L’Auditori).

Among the international performers taking part in the festival are Odetta Hartman, Nikki Hill and Trombone Shorty, all from the USA, Israeli musician Noa, and Australian band Sons of the East.

When: 31 January-26 June
