Animac (the Mostra Internacional de Cinema d’Animació de Catalunya) is an annual international festival dedicated to the world of animation, held in the city of Lleida.
This year’s event takes place from 21 to 24 February.
The presentation of Animac ’19 is at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània (CCCB) on 6 February. It is a free event and introduces the main theme of this year’s festival: stop motion.
To mark the occasion, the acclaimed British animator and stop-motion expert Tim Allen will give a talk on his extensive career, which has included working with directors such as Tim Burton and Wes Anderson on films including Frankenweenie and Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Ahead of his appearance, there’ll be a screening of one his most recent projects, Anderson’s Island of Dogs.
The Mostra Internacional de Cinema d’Animació de Catalunya was created in 1996 to be a point of contact for professionals in the animation sector, while also promoting a range of productions.
The special guest at this year’s event is Peter Lord, co-founder of the award-winning UK company Aardman Animations, and 10 of Aardman’s films will be screened during the festival.
