Hidden away in the Calblanque Regional Park, near La Manga in Murcia, there is something you would never expect to find. The most enlightening training course to self-awareness and the wonderful group of people who impart it.
What could be more perfect than to spend a weekend in this unique surrounding, indulging a little in the local gastronomy, delving into the local culture, with a variety of extra activities for all tastes, and at the heart of this OMtraining.
What is OMtraining?
In their words, OMtraining is a path to personal transformation. It dissolves negative emotions in your day-to-day life and achieves mental calm through 20-minute workouts that strengthen, energise your body and reprogramme your mind.
The OMtraining methodology combines diverse philosophies, as well as different fields of science and psychology. As negative emotions are anchored in the body, these limit our capacity to thrive, making us sick and keeping the mind in negative loops. Through conscious training, a state of mental calm and a connection with love are reached. The focus changes from chaos, anxiety and stress, to peace, calm and love.
And the amazing thing is anyone can do it, no matter what age, physical or mental condition. Anyone can benefit from this training.
OMtraining began 13 years ago when its founder Curro Ortiz began his journey following one of those life crises that makes you want to think about your life direction again.
He began searching, and travelling and training, mostly in Asia, and he came to realise that when you combine physical training and meditation the body experiences liberation and clarity of thought, and that when we free our body from the anchored emotions and bring our mind into the present, we become observers of reality from a state of absolute peace and happiness.
On his return to Spain, he started OMtraining with a view to helping others achieve the peace and happiness he had experienced. The team also spends a lot of time training with less fortunate people, and works with youth groups, even prisons and women who have been victims of abuse through their Association ‘Seeds of Love’.
Slowly they have built a dedicated following of participants who can train either on site at the Calblanque retreat or online. The methodology is presented in various cycles based on the concepts of strength, pride, recognition and confidence – each cycle contains several modules and phases, which can be enjoyed as a full course or as individual experiences.
Until now the training sessions have only been enjoyed in Spanish, but watch this space, the multi-talented team will be hosting courses soon in English!
And a little more about the surrounding area. The retreat’s location is at the centre of the protected area of Calblanque Regional Park, not even 50m from a beautiful and rugged beach which is perfect for long walks.
The Calblanque beach was voted the second best beach in the world for wildlife by The Telegraph newspaper. About 10km away there’s picturesque village of Cabo de Palos. The area is a paradise for nature lovers and sports enthusiasts; perfect for diving, horseback riding, trekking, and because of Murcia’s climate great for outdoor sports such as golf, tennis and padel.
Just 40km away is the ancient town of Cartagena, a treasure trove of Roman remains like the theatre and the forum, intermingled with military forts and art nouveau architecture. With its many tapas bars, music festivals, or even the famous Romans vs Carthaginians Historical Festival in September, Cartagena is a very manageable size and a surprisingly complete destination for a weekend away.
So … watch this space, and we will soon be offering Spain in English readers an early bird notice for OMtraining’s very first English training seminar along with a special gift for participating.
