There are still two opportunities to enjoy Opera in Sitges this August, as part of the Sitges Museums’ Summer Festival.
The museums’ festival, known as ‘Sitgestiu’, offers a total of 37 very diverse cultural activities for all tastes during the months of July and August, and with many events also in English.
On Tuesday 6 August, you can enjoy parts of Carmen, La Traviata, The Barber of Seville – with an evening of open-air opera at the Racó de la Calma – to include pieces from different periods and styles, with works by Rossini and Donitzetti, through Mozart, romantic opera, Puccini’s verismo and French opera.
Performed by the Petita Companyia Lírica de Barcelona, the performers are:
Romina Krieger: soprano
Facundo Muñoz: tenor
Lucas Groppo: bariton
Elke Sanjosé: piano
The opera starts at 20h at the Racó de la Calma on 6 August and lasts for approximately an hour and a quarter. Tickets are €12 – but hurry, as they have been selling fast. Click here for tickets on Tuesday 6 August.
On Sunday 11 August, the Petita Companyia Lírica de Barcelona will be presenting a ‘pocket’ version of one of the most famous operas in the world. Based on Victor Hugo’s novel ‘Le roi s’amuse,’ Giuseppe Verdi wrote Rigoletto, the tragedy of the court jester of Mantua. Through the voices of the singers, the audience will be able to delve into the feelings of love, fear, revenge, and compassion experienced by the characters in this opera. The performers are:
Duke of Mantua: Vicenç Esteve
Rigoletto: Lucas Groppo
Gilda: Romina Krieger
Maddalena: Caitlin Redding
Sparafucile: to be determined
Piano: Elke Sanjosé
The ‘pocket opera’ performance of Rigoletto starts at 20h in the Palau de Maricel on Sunday 11 August and lasts for approximately an hour and forty-five minutes. Tickets are €20 – but again, hurry, as they have also been selling fast! Click here for tickets for the open-air opera on Sunday 11 August.
