Four arrested in Sitges for alleged sexual assault on a woman at a private home

The Catalan police, the Mossos d’Esquadra, have arrested four men accused of being involved in an alleged sexual assault on a woman inside a private home in Sitges.

According to police sources, the events happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning, and one of the arrested is being investigated as the perpetrator of the aggression. The other three have been arrested for not having done anything to help the victim.

The same sources said that the woman had alerted the police, who had made a large deployment in Sitges on the occasion of Carnival.

As for the final balance of the operation related to the Carnival week, the Mossos arrested 15 people since Maundy Thursday. The majority, for crimes of theft and drugs.

In relation to the prevention of sexual assaults, the police underlined that various controls within the framework of routes called ‘Camins Segurs’ had been set up to avoid any situations of violence. They said that there had been no incidents of sexual assaults on public roads, and that the only alleged incident occurred at a private residence.
