Work begins to replace the two lifts at the roads near Sitges station

The new lifts either side of the tunnel under the Sitges railway line will be opened in February.

This week they started the work of replacing the old lifts, which were obsolete and the reason for constant breakdowns, due to their age and, above all, due to acts of vandalism. The lifts are either side of the tunnel that connects Avinguda de les Flors and Avinguda de l’Hort Gran.

The lifts will be completely new, except for the outer structures, which have been preserved. The Sitges Town Council has invested €135,000 in the operation.

The mechanical structure of the new lifts is designed to better resist acts of vandalism and with the aim that they can work permanently. Until now, any repairs required financial investment, but also in parts that, on occasion, meant an additional delay in their installation due to lack of availability.
