Green light for the reform and rehabilitation of Pia School in Sitges

The expansion and reform of the Escola Pia in Sitges has been given the green light.

With the work, it is intended to modify the schoolyard playground area in order to incorporate an installation on the ground floor and generate spaces with more vegetation than what currently exist.

Another aim of the work will be to preserve the image of Carrer Sant Isidre, since the downtown area that is intended to be rehabilitated is a visible space that has a direct impact on the aesthetics of the street. The project presented by Escola Pia has been endorsed by the Department of Education, the Fire Department and Sitges Town Council.

The start of the work represents an important step in the long-awaited comprehensive reform and expansion that the school has been seeking to undertake for a long time.

The alternative that had been offered by the management of the school, had consisted of making an exchange with the local council, whereby the council would have ceded some of its municipal land in La Plana area for the construction of a new school, and the school’s current building on Carrer de l’Hort Gran would have been given to the the council. That plan has now been shelved.
