Sant Pere de Ribes resident dies in a traffic accident inside tunnel on C-32

A resident of Sant Pere de Ribes was killed in a traffic accident on Monday afternoon that occurred at kilometre 40.3 of the C-32, near Sitges. For reasons that are still being investigated, the car that the 56-year-old man was driving collided with a tow truck inside one of the tunnels.

The incident, which was recorded at 1.41pm on Monday, forced the southbound road to be closed with detours to the C-31, which caused delays and traffic until around 6pm.

Four Mossos d’Esquadra patrol cars, six fire brigades from the Generalitat, a medical helicopter, three ambulances and psychological support personnel from the emergency services were activated.

With this victim, there are now 128 people who have died in traffic accidents on the suburban road network in Catalonia this year.
