Hailstones the size of euro coins fell on Thursday afternoon in Sitges and Sant Pere de Ribes, as well as many other areas of Catalonia.
The hailstorm left a white carpet in several parts of Ribes, after falling for approximately half an hour. The amount of water collected in Sitges was 34.4 mm, according to data from Meteo Sitges, while in Ribes it was 32 mm.
The high amount of rain falling in the Garraf has filled the Ribes creek, as well as the old Sitges creeks that end up on the beaches. The two most affected beaches have been Bassa Rodona and Sant Sebastià. Several streets were also flooded, especially in the Terramar area. The bridge on Avinguda Navarra was left full of water and unusable. Carrer Josep Irla, in Can Pei, was also particularly affected.
