447 applicants for the first 43 homes in Sitges social housing scheme

The process of awarding the first homes of ‘social housing’ under the Sitges Town Council’s Officially Protected Housing (HPO) scheme continues.

The first municipal homes for rent form part of a development called Marinada, consisting of three buildings, with 43 homes, in the Carrer de l’Abadessa de Maria Lluïsa Dalmaus with Manuel Torrens, located in La Plana, near to the Can Pei district.

Of the 43 homes that are set to be delivered during the month of May, 34 are for general letting, six are reserved for low-income co-habitants, two for people with reduced mobility and one home is excluded from the award process, and which will be managed directly by social services for cases of vulnerability.

Out of the 1,333 initial applications requesting a place of residence in Sitges as part of the HPO Register of Applicants, 824 remained after the general requirements for registration, former residency, prior ownership were all taken into account. Once the established maximum and minimum income requirements were met, 447 applicants now continue to the next stage of the award process.

The final application process continues up until 4 April, after which the local council will publish the final list of applicants and determine the date of the draw for the housing.
