The end of Covid restrictions has seen renewed activities aimed at promoting wine culture and local products, with the Malvasia Interpretation Centre (CIM) hosting a new wine tasting last weekend, in collaboration with the Joan Ramon Benaprès Institute and the Fetén Wines distributor.
‘DNA Garraf’ was created with the aim of offering wine tastings from the Garraf Massif. Inspired by the ‘Malvasia Power’ programme – created by CIM and which opened its second season 15 days ago – the initiative presents five wines in each tasting session from the different wineries of Garraf.
The aim is to promote the growing wealth of local wines, and with the help of sommelier David Martínez and historian Alba Gràcia, the sessions present the different qualities and characteristics of the wines tasted and also place them in their geographical and historical context.
Last weekend at CIM, the wines tasted were: LLegat Llopis of the Sitges Hospital Cellar, the Saserra de Vega from Ribes, the Blanc de Noirs from Clos Lentiscus, the Finca Negra from Viladellops and the Gran Caus Negre from Can Ràfols dels Caus. In other words, the plan features both white and red wines, as well as sparkling wines, with the aim of offering variety.
‘Malvasia Power’ opened its second season on 27 January and is already planning further tastings, always during the last weekends of each month. The tastings are all from the different Malvasias bottled by different wineries, both in Catalonia and in other areas.
