The Sitges local police arrested a man on Saturday afternoon who already had a prison warrant. The incident took place in the Mercadona supermarket, below the Municipal Market, after an agent detained the man when he tried to escape.
The incident took place at 2.15 pm after the local police received a call from an employee at the supermarket, who had seen a man who had previously robbed the establishment.
When the suspect saw the police officers appear, he got rid of the objects from the supermarket that he was carrying and tried to escape, but was intercepted by an agent who pinned him to the ground until a colleague arrived.
It was then that they checked his identity with the police records and found that he was under investigation and already had a warrant to enter prison. After his arrest, the man was taken to the Vilanova courthouse.
