2021 was a record year for audiovisual productions in Sitges

There has been a record number of audiovisual productions filmed in Sitges during 2021. The promenade, the beaches, the port of Vallcarca and the Cau Ferrat have been the most sought after locations for companies, public figures and directors who have chosen the great landscape potential of the town as the setting for their film, TV, advertising, video and photo shoots.

Up to a total of 162 productions have been registered during 2021 in the municipality, according to the Sitges Town Council, generating direct income of 35,716 euros, thanks to the fees derived from permits for the occupation of public roads.

Personalities such as Liam Nesson and Nathy Peluso, or leading brands such as Nike, Budweiser and Mutua Madrileña have chosen Sitges as the setting for their productions, whilst Leo Messi also took part in a commercial shot at the Pins Bens football field.

The local councillor for economic promotion, Guillem Escolà, highlighted the town’s ‘great capacity for attraction as a natural setting and as reference place for this industry’. In addition, he wanted to acknowledge the good work of the ‘action plan promoted by Node Film Cluster and the municipal work to speed up permits’, as it is allowing ‘the figures to exceed those reached in pre-pandemic times’.

The ambition of the municipal authorities does not stop there and the intention is to continue with the current line of growth and turn Sitges into a reference town in southern Europe for audiovisual productions.
