Cyclist falls down a cliff in the Garraf park near Sitges

A mountain biker suffered a spectacular fall on New Year’s Day on the Serra del Gegant road, in the Garraf park near Sitges, and had to be taken by helicopter to the Hospital de Sant Camil. The accident took place a short distance from the Camí de la Fita.

The cliff was a just few metres in depth, but the fall caused serious injuries to the cyclist. A helicopter from the fire brigade, as well as teams from the Emergency Medical Services (SEM) and the local police were dispatched to the scene.

Members of the GRAE of the Fire Brigade and SEM staff went down to where the cyclist was, where they were able to attend to him and detect the extent of the injuries. After being picked up and taken to the area where the helicopter had been able to land, the injured cyclist was taken to Sant Camil.

Local police officers arrived at the scene just ten minutes after receiving the warning call at 1.30 pm.
