A large wild boar walked through the urbanisation of Vallpineda on Sunday night in search of food. The animal was photographed by a neighbour on Avinguda Santiago Rusiñol, in the municipality of Sant Pere de Ribes, on the threshold of Sitges. It was also seen on other streets such as Sant Albert and Miquel Utrillo.
The wild boar was seen knocking over bins and rummaging through garbage bags that it found along the way. In Vallpineda, rubbish is still left in bins on public roads and not in containers, as it is the co-operative of the urbanisation itself that manages the waste service. This makes it easier for wild boars and other animals to find food.
The presence of wild boars has multiplied in the last year and a half, due to the overpopulation in the Garraf Park. During the weeks of last year’s spring confinement, they also went down to the Paseo Marítimo in Sitges, where they were seen on several occasions. During the same period they were also seen in Pins Bens and Quint Mar.
