Sitges Town Council launches ‘Buy in Sitges’ app to encourage local trade

The department of economic promotion of Sitges Town Council has launched an app to encourage local trade. The app, called Buy in Sitges, is free and is available for both iOS and Android operating systems.

To mark the launch of the app, the council is also distributing 3,000 gift vouchers valued at €20 each, a total of 60,000 euros to encourage purchases in local establishments. People interested in obtaining a voucher must first download the app and make a purchase for an amount over 40 euros. They will then receive a €20 gift voucher towards their next purchase. It has been launched as a practical and easy-to-use app that allows for promotions from all participating establishments, in order to increase the number of visits and customer loyalty through benefits and discounts.

The local councillor for economic promotion, Guillem Escolà, said: ‘This app for promotions and loyalty perks is a tool which allows us to promote the variety and quality of local trade to all Sitges residents and visitors who buy in Sitges, because they will have advantages and offers.’

Since trade is one of the sectors that has been the most damaged by the Covid pandemic, the department of economic promotion is working to support local establishments and promote them to people who don’t usually make purchases locally. Escolà said: ‘With this initiative, we help all shops and Sitges. Through minimum purchases of €40 to get the gift voucher, we will obtain €120,000 for Sitges trade.’

The initiative is part of the ‘Get Inspired’ campaign to encourage local trade and was launched with a new video starring Les Veïnes, along with the collaboration of Joan Roca, who is helping to promote the new app.

The app is available for all shops in Sitges interested in promoting the fabric of the town, whether or not they are associated with Sitges Comerç. Membership is completely free during the campaign, which lasts one year, as the department of economic promotion is assuming the costs. Establishments will be able to post their promotions through the app, with the aim of creating a new digital customer relationship channel.

Businesses wishing to join can send an e-mail to the Sitges Comerç association, which is in charge of managing the app: hola@sitgescomerc.cat
