The first cases of Covid in the 2021-22 academic year in Sitges occurred on the second day of class at the new Agnès school. In Ribes, there was a case at the Els Costarets school and another one at the Montgròs high school.
There were two pupils who tested positive on Tuesday at Agnès and who have been isolated, as established following the new protocol implemented by Catalonia’s Department of Education. The two cases have not forced the whole class to be confined, as was the case last year. However, pupils in the class where the cases occurred took tests, with tracking and tracing also carried out.
Agnès school in Sitges has been the educational centre that had set up stricter controls on access and intergroup relations, in order to avoid contagions. All indications are that both pupils were infected outside the school.
The other two cases in Ribes, at Els Costarets and Montgròs schools, are also believed to have occurred off site.
