CORONAVIRUS in SPAIN – latest Health Ministry figures

The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Wednesday 23 June for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 3,773,032. This is an overall increase of 4,341 against the figure released on Tuesday, of which 2,124 have occurred in the past 24 hours.

Tuesday had seen an overall increase of 4,040 over Monday, of which 1,799 occurred in 24 hours. The peak of recorded infections for a 24-hour period during the pandemic in Spain was on 21 January, when 18,504 cases were registered.

The overall incidence rate has increased for the first time since April, albeit by just three decimal points to 92.57 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days. On Tuesday it was 92.25 and Monday 92.46. The incidence rate is over 150 in just Andalusia (169).

There have now been 43,927 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 3,773,032. The figure for the past 7 days is 20,573.

There are currently 2,504 people requiring hospital treatment for Covid-19 in Spain, of which 683 are in intensive care. This represents 7.2% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid-19 patients across Spain.

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Wednesday 23 June is 80,748 – an increase of 29 since Tuesday.

Of the 2,124 new infections to have only been registered in the past 24 hours on Wednesday 23 June, the numbers per region are as follows:

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (up to 23 June) show that Spain has received 41,218,602 doses of Covid-19 vaccines and that 37,560,626 jabs have been administered. 23,772,029 people have now received at least one jab, representing 50.1% of the population. 15,138,439 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 31.9% of the population.
