CORONAVIRUS in SPAIN – latest Health Ministry figures

The latest official figure released by the Spanish Health Ministry on Friday 11 June for the number of people who have tested positive for Coronavirus since the start of the pandemic is now 3,733,600. This is an overall increase of 4,412 against the figure released on Thursday, and of which 1,961 have occurred in the past 24 hours.

Thursday had seen an overall increase of 14,004 over Wednesday (mainly due to an adjustment in the historical data in Catalonia), of which 2,012 occurred in 24 hours. The peak of recorded infections for a 24-hour period during the pandemic in Spain was on 21 January, when 18,504 cases were registered. 

The overall incidence rate has dropped just two points to 108.46 per 100,000 inhabitants for the past 14 days.- the lowest figure since 14 August last year. On Thursday it was 110.35 and Wednesday 111.91.

The incidence rate is at its highest in La Rioja (200), Andalusia (188) and Basque Country (165). It is under 100 in nine regions: Valencia (40), the Balearic Islands (42), Galicia (45), Murcia (48), Extremadura (68), the Canary Islands (72), Asturias (74), Cantabria (69) and Castilla La Mancha (87).

There have now been 51,466 cases of Coronavirus detected in the past 14 days – out of the total 3,733,600. The figure for the past 7 days is 22,146

There are currently 3,427 people requiring hospital treatment for Covid-19 in Spain, of which 966 are in intensive care. This represents 10.14% occupation of intensive care units (ICUs) by Covid-19 patients across Spain. 

The official figure for the total number of Coronavirus-related deaths since the start of the pandemic on Friday 11 June is 80,501 – an increase of 36 since Thursday.

Covid-19 Vaccinations in Spain

Latest figures (up to 11 June) show that Spain has received 35,991,358 doses of Covid-19 vaccines and that 32,282,553 jabs have been administered. 20,963,619 people have now received at least one jab, representing 44.2% of the population. 12,250,002 people have now been fully vaccinated, which is 25.8% of the population.
