Number of vaccinations given has slowed down again

Last week half the amount of vaccinations were administered in Sitges and Sant Pere de Ribes compared to the previous week. Both municipalities continue to have lower vaccination rates than the average across Catalonia.

The vaccination process has still not established the necessary speed across the region overall, but in Sitges and Sant Pere de Ribes it is even slower. Problems with supplies, along with logistical issues, are the main reasons that are contributing to a very slow rate against the targets set by the Catalan government.

Last week only 450 first jabs were administered in Sitges – even less than the number of second doses given (456). The previous week there had been 874 and the week after Easter, 1,136. In two weeks, therefore, the number of first jabs given has fallen to almost a third.

In Sant Pere de Ribes, the figures are similar: last week there were 461 first jabs given, a figure lower than in the previous three weeks.

19.6% of the population of Sitges have now received a first jab and 7.41% have received two doses. These are figures below the Catalan average (23.05% and 8.56%, respectively). Sant Pere de Ribes has even lower statistics: 18.83% for those having received a first jab and 7.09% for two.
