New financial aid agreed for companies, venues and self-employed

Sitges Town Council has laid the groundwork for the granting of new and extraordinary financial aid to support economic activities affected by the suspension, or limitation, of opening to the public due to the Covid crisis.

These grants also contemplate the financing of the expenses derived from the rent or mortgage to companies and commercial establishments.

The new approved aid is intended to reduce the consequences of the crisis that has affected all economic sectors – especially non-essential ones – through single contributions of 6,000 euros for nightclubs, 2,500 euros for music bars and dance halls, and 1,000 euros for economic activities related to the restaurant sector, as well as activities such as dance or music academies. For the remainder of other activities, the amount of financial aid will be 500 euros.

This latest plan of financial assistance follows previous efforts organised by the Council’s Department of Economic Promotion, led by Guillem Escolà.

Sitges Mayor Aurora Carbonell has indicated that work is being undertaken to speed up the procedures in accessing these financial aids.
