Schools return to activity without Covid

Schools in Sitges and Sant Pere de Ribes started the Holy Week holiday, 10 days ago, without any class of pupils having to go into confinement, or any student or teacher having to go into self-isolation or quarantine. And on Tuesday they returned to school under the same conditions, although with the uncertainty of whether the re-opening of the perimeters two weeks ago will have indirect consequences on the education sector.

With the zero cases of Covid-19 on Friday 26 March coinciding with the start of the holiday period, the 28 educational centres of Sitges and Sant Pere de Ribes had shown their best data since the start of the school year.

The previous week had already indicated that the schools would leave for the Easter holidays with good figures, since on 19 March there had only been one teacher at Escola El Pi in Ribes and a student at the Institut Xaloc in Les Roquetes who’d been in self-isolation as a precaution. The previous week (12 March) there had been a classroom confined at the Escola Pia.

The effects of the Holy Week holiday will only start to become apparent in a few days, once results have been released regarding the cases that have occurred since the perimeter re-opening.
