Spain has now carried out more than 7m PCR tests since start of pandemic

Spain has now carried out more than 7 million PCR tests since the start of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, according to data released by the Spanish government this week.

The regional governments of Spain have notified the central health ministry that a total of 7,042,795 PCR diagnostic tests have been performed up to 3 September.

Between 28 August and 3 September, the regional governments carried out 626,262 PCR tests, now standing at a rate of 149.53 PCR tests per 1,000 inhabitants.

In addition, the regional governments have also reported a total of 2,285,059 rapid antibody tests, of which 45,619 were carried out between 28 August and 3 September. This is now a rate of 48.51 tests per 1,000 inhabitants.

Furthermore, 659,472 antibody blood tests have also been carried out, of which 105,108 took place between 28 August and 3 September – a rate of 14 per 1,000 inhabitants.

In total, 9,987,326 diagnostic tests for Covid-19 have been carried out since the start of the pandemic, of which 776,989 correspond to the week up to 3 September.
