In recognition of the fact that Barcelona has become an international hub for science research, experimentation and knowledge, the city council has organised the first Biennal Ciutat i Ciència (City and Science Biennial).
For five days, the Catalan capital will host over 140 free activities at a wide range of venues across the city giving the public the chance to explore current themes in scientific research as well as get to know academics, professors and others involved in projects in Barcelona.
Numerous exhibitions are featured on the Biennial programme, including: ‘Tintin and the Moon’ at CosmoCaixa, which celebrates 50 years since man landed on the moon.
There’s also an exploration of the ecosystem of the Besòs river at Fabra i Coats – and a look at the world’s biodioversity at the Museum of Natural Sciences, the negative effects humans are having on it and what can be done to change this situation.
There are also talks and workshops on a large variety of topics such as sustainable food growth, art and science, robotics, and climate change.
