Teatro Kamikaze stages ‘Peregrinos’ for a good cause

This Christmas, Madrid’s Teatro Kamikaze is staging Peregrinos (Pilgrims), a family show that combines theatre, puppets and animation for a fresh take on the spirit of the season and with an important message at its core.

Peregrinos is the story of a girl wandering through the desert, with no water and little strength left – but who’s determined to reach her destination: the sea.

She wants to get there so she can cross the water and find her father, who left looking for a better life. And behind her, she’s left a city that’s soon to be overwhelmed by an ongoing war. On her way she meets friendly, welcoming people, and learns the value of the things she has and those she’s lost.

The show is a co-production between the theatre and Voila Productions, and follows the style of other recent creations.

With this performance, the company wants audiences, young and old, to consider the experiences of child refugees all over the world today. It’s also been created with the cooperation of the Comisión Española de Ayuda al Refugiado (Spanish Commission for Assisting Refugees, CEAR). Recommended for children aged four and above.

When: 22 December to 5 January. Wed-Sat 4.30pm, Sun and 5 January 12.30pm.

Where: Teatro Kamikaze, Embajadores, 9
