Italian Film Festival returns to Barcelona’s Verdi cinemas

Barcelona’s two Verdi cinemas once more host the Mostra de Cinema Italià de Barcelona (Barcelona Italian Film Festival) this December.

Across five days, audiences will be able to enjoy an eclectic programme of 10 feature-length and 6 short films made in Italy and which have been presented at some of the world’s leading festivals in the past year; many of the films are being shown for the first time in Spain.

‘Capri-Revolution’ from director Mario Martone is one of the movies at this year’s Italian Film Festival.

Among the films on the programme are Mario Martone’s Capri-Revolution, a period piece set in 1914 that was entered into the main competition at this year’s Venice Film Festival, love story Ricordi? featuring a nameless couple at different stages of their relationship, and coming-of-age film L’Ospite.

The festival is organised by state Italian production company Istituto Luce Cinecittà with the Instituto Italiano de Cultura de Barcelona, the Centro de Studi sul Cinema Italiano and the Italian Consulate in Barcelona.

Entry to all screenings is free; limited seating is available and tickets are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis at the respective cinema box office on the day of screening from 5pm.

When: 14-18 December

Where: Cines Verdi Barcelona (inauguration), Cines Verdi Park Barcelona (15-18 December)
