Loop Barcelona: video art festival returns

LOOP Barcelona, the leading Video Art Festival, returns for its 2018 edition on 12 November, promising almost two weeks of quality contemporary art, with a special focus this year on local talent.

LOOP is made up of three different sections:

The Fair, which showcases a programme of films and videos created by contemporary artists and presented by international galleries in a dedicated viewing area (20-22 November):

The Festival explores different facets of video art with exhibitions, screenings, guided tours and live performances in a variety of venues across the city including art galleries and leading museums such as the Fundació Joan Miró, the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) and the Museu Picasso as well as 39 places participating in City Screen, the non-institutional part of the Festival (12-22 November).

Finally there’s the Studies, the most educational part of LOOP that has a schedule of talks, workshops and professional meetings (20-22 November).

‘Shio’ by Charlotte Dumas is presented at Loop Fair 2018 by Andriesse Eyck Galerie Amsterdam

LOOP is a truly international occasion and among the 42 contenders in this year’s Main Selection in the Fair are works from Shanghai, Tel Aviv, Berlin and Reykjavík as well as a good representation from the host city itself. Up for grabs are four prizes including the Acquisition Award for the best artist video presented at LOOP Fair, and the LOOP Discover Award for the production of new works.
