CaixaForum Barcelona looks back to Spain in the 16th and 17th centuries in its latest exhibition, Velázquez and the Golden Age. This period saw artistic and literature endeavours in the country booming, with Seville painter Diego Velázquez a leading figure of the movement.
This show aims to put his work into the context of the period, exploring his creative development in comparison to that of his peers, both from Spain and other countries.
Organised in collaboration with Madrid’s Museo Nacional del Prado, the exhibition also includes works from Spain’s royal art collections.
When: 16 November – 3 March 2019
